Early Years Foundation Stage
Children are born with a natural curiosity and love of learning; time spent in our early years is a time of non-stop curiosity. Our aim is to work in partnership with you: together, we can give your child the best start to life.
Our EYFS Vision and Aims
Our vision:
We offer a high quality, broad and balanced curriculum which has four main elements: happy, healthy, enquiring and active exploration and discovery.
- Learning is play-based and takes place indoors and outside.
- There is an effective balance between adult-initiated experiences (guided learning) and child-initiated (continuous provision) experiences.
- Adults take children’s interests and strengths as a starting point, seeing each child as a competent learner.
- Parent/carer involvement is crucial. We learn a great deal about each child from their parents/carers. Parental support and a high-quality home learning environment make a huge difference to children.
Our curriculum provides no limits or barriers to the children’s achievements, regardless of their backgrounds, circumstances or needs. The high ambition it embodies and the high expectations we set for all children is shared by all staff. By the end of the Reception year, our aim is for all children to read accurately and start to develop fluency in their reading; that vocabulary and understanding of language flourishes and children achieve the early learning goals across all areas of learning.
